We are very proud of our previous students who have taken the PADI IDC Gili Islands with Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod. Many can be found working in and around the Gili’s and around the world. In fact the chances of gaining a job directly after the course can be considered as high, and all it takes is to look around Gili Trawangan and meet the instructors working in the various dive centers to see that most of them have taken the program. |
There are many potential reasons why the graduates from the program are so successful in obtaining jobs locally.
One reason is that year upon year the Gili Islands are becoming a more favorable destination for tourists and it just so happens that it’s also a fantastic place to take a dive course and therefore dive centers are always looking to increase the numbers of staff they employ.
The Gili Islands is also known for its currents and turbulence and therefore dive centers naturally aim to recruit instructors who have previously trained in Gili Trawangan. This is one of the reasons candidates are always advised to arrive early before the start of each course to take advantage of free fun diving and get to know the various dive sights.
Dive centers within the Gili Islands also have a great relationship with each other and therefore managers and owners will often approach our PADI Course Director when looking for new staff, especially as they know instructors will be available immediately.
Of course one of the main reasons that we are approached so often by other dive centers when looking for new Instructors is the reputation of the course and our IDC training. Many instructors around the Gili Islands have taken their training with Holly and therefore know the quality of the training first hand and therefore it become an easy and practical way to source staff at short notice.

The Instructor Development Course is entirely conducted by multi award winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod who has a reputation for success and excellence. This year alone she has been awarded the “Platinum” status sighting her high level of commitment and dedication to instructor training. She has also been awarded the “Elite 300” status which is awarded for her sheer experience, having issued over 300 Instructor level certifications in the previous year. She has also won the “Commitment to Instructor Development” Award for the program itself sighting its extremely high level of educational quality.
The course runs every month at Trawangan Dive; the first ever established PADI 5 Star Career Development Center (CDC) in the Gili Islands and the entire Lombok region and today remains the only CDC Center in Gili Trawangan. The dive center offers world class facilities including classroom facilities, dedicated Instructor training boat and 2 swimming pools. The open water training site is situated close by and boats leave directly from the beach outside the dive center, thus minimizing journey time and maximizing the time spent in training.
One way that potential candidates can research previous students is to check out the PADI IDC Indonesia profile on Facebook, see how the students got on and also investigate where they are now.
